Safe Bite Report ("we", "us") provides restaurant and food facility inspection information based on public Louisiana Department of Health records. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Safe Bite Report website and mobile app.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account information: If you sign in for alerts, we collect your email address.
- Alert preferences: Selected establishments, saved places, and notification preferences.
- Device and usage: Device type, browser, operating system, IP address, app activity, pages viewed, and crash/error data to improve reliability and prevent abuse.
- Location: If you enable nearby features or location-based alerts, the app uses your device location (approximate or precise) to find nearby facilities. Location access is optional and can be changed in your device settings at any time.
- Communications: Any information you include in support requests, comments, tips, tag suggestions, correction requests, or other submissions.
How We Use Information
- To provide search, reports, and alerts you request
- To send notifications if you opt in
- To improve app performance and reliability
- To respond to your inquiries and support requests
- To comply with legal obligations
Sharing
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We may share information with service providers that help us operate the app (for example, email or push notification services), and only as needed to provide the service. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights.
Data Retention
We retain each category of personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Service, maintain accounts and alerts, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our agreements. You can delete your account at any time from the "My Alerts" page, which removes your email address and alert preferences.
Your Choices
- You can disable notifications in device settings.
- You can disable location access in device settings.
- You can delete your account and all associated data from the My Alerts page.
- You can contact us at [email protected] to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.
Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will provide notifications of security incidents as required by applicable law.
Inspection Data and Scoring
Safe Bite Report displays restaurant, school, daycare, and other establishment inspection data sourced from the Louisiana Department of Health public inspection records.
- Safe Bite Grades (A+ through F) and Safe Bite Scores are independently calculated by Safe Bite Report and are not official health department grades.
- Our scoring methodology is described on our Methodology page.
- Inspection data is updated periodically from public records and may not reflect real-time conditions.
- We do not independently verify or audit the inspection data provided by the Louisiana Department of Health.
Do Not Track
We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or engage in cross-site behavioral advertising.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
